striving to look at the world through the eyes of Christ

Word of God, Move Me

If you want to be perfect, go and sell all you have and give the money to the poor—you will have riches in heaven. Then come and follow me.

Do not be anxious about tomorrow.

If anyone will not work, do not let him eat.

What do these words say to you TODAY? Here and now?

Today is St. Anthony’s day, and for him, they meant a great deal. Through them, he heard God literally directing his steps. Now, he’s not the St. Anthony in charge of finding keys, parking spots and husbands, but a far older St. Anthony. St. Anthony the Great, St. Anthony of Egypt, Father of All Monks (ca. 251–356).

St. Athanasius wrote his story, “The Life of St. Anthony”; part of it can be found in today’s Office of Readings. In it, it’s clear that the Word of God was truly living and active in St. Anthony’s life. Long after our death, may others be able to say the same about us!

Word of God, come into my soul and move me as you did St. Anthony.

Ok, so this morning, on the radio, I heard people bashing Ted Cruz and company for EVEN BRINGING UP Obamacare. Well, I think he did a good thing by linking the budget with Obamacare for the above reason. In other words, thank you Ted Cruz and all those who have valiantly fought to point out and remove that black hole that is the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act.
What the elephant is saying: But what about that black hole that money is being sucked into? Should we just leave that there? Yes, we initially approved it, and yes, it looked good at the time, but now it seems like a sinkhole. For the good of our nation, I will not let it go unnoticed.
